Organ Resection Surgery
Multi-Organ Resection Surgery, often referred to as multivisceral resection, is a complex surgical procedure that involves removing two or more organs or parts of organs that are affected by disease, typically cancer. This type of surgery is usually performed when cancer has spread to adjacent organs or tissues and aims to remove all the cancerous cells to improve the chances of a cure or to extend survival.
The surgery can involve various organs depending on the location and spread of the disease. For example, in cases of advanced colorectal cancer, it may involve the removal of a section of the colon along with parts of the bladder, uterus, or other nearby structures if the cancer has spread to these areas.
